Over about a year in 2015 some friends and I threw together a web-series pilot for Riot Games' earth-shaking competitive-MOBA, League of Legends. Rather than develop a thousands+ dollar piece of content sight unseen, the showrunner and I met with Riot Games during pre-production, in order to discuss distribution and secure cameos from significant members of the Riot staff and community. The conclusion then was that, upon release, the temperature of the community would be taken, and a series order would be offered. Months later, the community was emphatic in their acclaim. 100k views in 24 hours, 10k subscribers in a week, a 97% like rate, and kind word after kind word.
